The Speaker of the Parliament of Finland, Ms. Maria Lohela, will pay an official visit to Croatia from November 2-4, 2016, accompanied by Members of Parliament Ms. Mikaela Nylander and Mr. Arto Pirttilahti. In addition to official meetings in Zagreb, the delegation will visit the City of Dubrovnik on Friday 4 November 2016 where the Speaker of the Parliament of Finland will have the opportunity to meet with the Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Mr. Nikola Dobroslavić and the Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik Mr. Andro Vlahušić and discuss the relations between Finland and Croatia with particular focus on tourism, regional development and cooperation in the economic sector and culture promotion.
On the occasion of her visit to Dubrovnik, the Speaker of the Parliament, Ms. Maria Lohela will have the honour to officially open the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Finland in Dubrovnik that will be led by Honorary Consul Ms. Tilda Bogdanović. The ceremony will also be attended by the Prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Mr. Nikola Dobroslavić, Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik Mr. Andro Vlahušić, the Ambassador of Finland to Croatia Mr. Timo Rajakangas and distinguished guests.
In addition to representation in Dubrovnik, Finland has Honorary Consulates in Zagreb, Rijeka and Split that work together with the Embassy of Finland to promote and strengthen bilateral relations and partnerships between Finland and Croatia on all levels including trade, tourism, culture and education. Honorary Consuls of Finland play an important role in establishing contacts and developing ties between the two countries.
The Consulate of Finland in Dubrovnik is also important due to the growing interest of Finnish tourists in this region, as well as, growing interest from Finland for cooperation also in the economic and culture promotion sectors.
Finland has a network of approximately 400 Honorary Consuls in more than 130 countries.
