Ossi Tanner, a young pianist will perform pieces by Jean Sibelius, Frédéric Chopin and Beethoven at receitals in Zagreb and Rijeka. The performances are part of the Finland100, a series of events in Croatia to mark 100 years of the independence of Finland.

Ossi Tanner, born in 1997, studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland under prof. Erik T. Tawaststjerna. In 2013 he was selected to be part of the Youth Piano Academy, which was founded to develop a small group of exceptionally talented young pianists in Finland.
Ossi Tanner won the First Prize in the most recent Finnish national Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition in 2015. The previous year he was granted a Special Award by the jury in the national Jyväskylä Competition. In addition to these he has received many other awards in music competitions nationally and internationally in the young age categories. The Pro Musica Foundation elected Ossi “Young Musician of the Year 2015”.
Ossi has performed with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Oulu Symphony Orchestra, Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra and the Sibelius High School Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with internationally renowned musicians, such as Sakari Oramo (Chief Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra), Atso Almila (conductor), Réka Szilvay (violinist), Hagai Shaham (violinist) and Edward Arron (cellist). In summer 2016, Ossi was chosen to perform as a young artist at the highly distinguished Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival and Mänttä Music Festival. He was also named “Young Artist of the Year” at the Mänttä Festival. In September 2016 Ossi played a tour consisting of seven concerts in northern Finland, Lapland. In January 2017 Ossi will perform e.g. in Warsaw, Poland in front of the Prime Ministers of Poland and Finland.
He has taken part in master classes with many of the leading Finnish musicians such as Soile Isokoski (soprano), Paavali Jumppanen (pianist), Matti Raekallio (Juilliard School), Henri Sigfridsson (Folkwang Universität der Künste), Antti Siirala (Hochschule München) and Marko Ylönen (cellist). Russian-born pianist Konstantin Bogino has been mentoring Ossi since year 2010. Boris Berman from the Yale University, Thomas Hecht from the Singapore Conservatory and Krzysztof Jablonski from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music have also taught Ossi.
